Engine codes

Hello..

Just wondering if someone can tell me the different engine codes for an 84 1.8 GTI. Im just trying to figure mine out. Also is there actually any difference between them?

All Mk1 hatchback GTIs had the same engine code for the 1.8 litre: DX. There's a couple of other variations once you start looking at later convertibles and Mk2s, etc. Also 1.6 GTI is EG.
