help please

Hi All,

Can someone tell me if I can use the cover plate part number 026109127C with my'83 campaign DX block?

OEM part is actually 026109127A, etka tells me I can't but was hoping someone could point out the difference? I'm rebuilding my engine and discovered I don't have this part! (none on the ebay either)

Hi you probably sorted this already, but here's a photo of the two parts. 026109127A at the top 026109127C at the bottom. Some slight differences in the lower middle part, not sure if it's critical

Hi,

Good effort thanks. I've actually ordered 026109127B from a genuine VW parts supplier-it hasnt arrived yet, but I'll add pics of it to this post for future reference..Hopefully it will fit OK and I won't have to panel beat it😁

You don't need it, early cars did not have this inner cover just the bigger outer cover, the advantage is you can see the cam belt and check the tension with out removing any covers. That what I do on my 1978 Mk1 Scirocco.

1988 Mk1 Golf GTi Cabriolet 1.8cc DX, K-jet. Daily drive. 317,000 miles and counting
1978 Mk1 Scirocco GLS 1.6cc FR, Webber carb. Weekend toy.

Well as you can see, not much between them, here is the 'B' version, which fits no probs..Seems only difference is the strengthened bar is now part of the template-a part I actually had, in the picture also.

Anyway, all good now. Thanks. 20190114_145404.jpg
