do i need new tappets or can they be adjusted?

hi all
my engine is a 1.8 8v out of a A reg

the engine is very tappy all the time, i have changed the oil and filter but doesn't seem to have made any difference at all.

could they just need adjusting or do i need new ones?

If its still got the original engine then it should have mechanical tappets and these can be shimmed to quiet it down a bit.

do you have any idea how  much they normally cost to be done?

Budget around ?40 to ?60 quid, as log as you find someone who acutally knows what they are doing!
