Distributor Plug or not?

So - my first plea for help! If you've seen the 'No time Toulouse' project thread, this may be a bit out of sequence, or it may make sense! Basically, its a DX engine which came to me as a non-runner, with lots of bits missing and pretty much all connections dismantled. So I'm playing the 'guess where that wire goes' game. Tonight - the distributor. It didn't have one, so I purchased one which 'should' be for a DX. But the connector and the connection don't match up…
Either I have the wrong dizzy. or. I have the wrong plug and its meant to go elsewhere and I haven't found the right plug yet…
If its the wrong dizzy, can I swap the internals or is it easier to just get a different one?

your dizzy plug is late, your dizzy is early! whats the part number on the dizzy, people love selling carby ones as 'gti'

drop the guys at http://www.classic-vw.co.uk/ a call, they may have an early TCI loom/plug :)

Ah, so could I just swap the hall sender over for the right one? Not sure of the part number, i'll check tomorrow.

you could, bit of a pain tho. easier to swap the plug if you can find one :)
