Difference between Mk1 1800 and Mk2 1800

Hi, I have seen an uprated mk2 1800 engine for sale.  The crankshaft bearings have gone on my current 1800 DX engine, so am looking for something to replace it.

What are the differences between the DX and the mk2 1800 K-jet??  Would my inlet and exhaust manifolds fit on to it??  If it's an easy fit I will probably go for it!

Thanks

Anthony.

Mk2 K-Jet is still a DX block. The head may be very slightly different (There is an outlet at the back between cylinders 3 and 4 which you just need to put a pice of rubber fuel pipe or similar on and block off), though your manifolds will fit straight on.
Beware of the injectors though as the Mk2 ones are slightly different and require little hats on the end with a second seal. My engine seems to have a Mk2 head on it as it has these injectors and the outlet pipe, though I'm not sure if the block was originally Mk1 or 2!
If the engine has the injectors/k-jet system with it, you may need to utilise some of these bits.

The block is the same, and the head is almost identical (see above comment). The airbox and metering head is different (wont fit under the bonnet of a MK1 without modifications - correct me if I'm wrong - but I think its too high to fit in. I think the water pump may be different, alternator check strap may be different, I think it's got like another sort of oil cooler or something actually on the engine, and the pulley wheels may or may not be different.

I think that their are different spigots for waterways between the Mk1 1600 and 1800, but I think that these are common between MK1 and MK2 1800's?

I have a MK2 1800 in my Mk1 and I basically changed all of the above. I had three of four engines to take parts from though! - be warned!

Cheers
