Differance between MK1 & 2

Hi Got a MK1 1.8 GTI Cabby "B" Reg and just bought a MK2 GTI "B" Reg which I'm breaking for spare Engine & gearbox, does anyone know what other parts will fit a MK1???? the rest will be up for sell.

Been asked many times before! Search engine is your friend, but basically:

front seats
engine/trans
wheels
not much else….

I take it wing mirrors, spot lights OK?? what about rear disc brakes????
Only paid ?50 for it so worth it just for Eng/tran

No idea on mirrors. No idea on spots (do you mean inner headlamps in the 4 lamp grille?) Outer headlamps definitely don't fit and my Golf only has 2 headlamps…… Rear discs will need mods and adaption, but can be adapted to fit Mk1, but due to the lower weight of the Mk1 there isn't any particular advantage in them, but having said that some people like them.

If its a GTI Mk2 B reg it will be an 8V, so it won't have rear discs as standard. The 16Vs had rear discs but they were introduced 86-88 or thereabouts. ?50 is about right for a Mk2 Golf for spares/repair. I think scrap metal is around ?60/ton now…
