I'm sure I read somewhere on here that big block petrol engines are M11, and diesel engines are M12.

I can't be sure though - I'd like to know for sure as I need to buy a tool for myself.

Resurrecting an old thread - my usual tool supplier can't seem to source an M11 12-spline tool - he can do M10 or M12.

Could someone who has bought one let me know where they got it from, and what make it is?

Thanks

Big block petrol are M10 aren't they? I can't remember now, its been so long ago. They're not M11 though.

Can anyone else confirm the thread size for a big block petrol engine?

The one I use has got Draper-Expert scmv M12 stamped on it so I suppose they're M12 but it doesn't look that big.

I've finally sorted this out - I bought a tool yesterday and it fits.

The tool you need for a big block petrol engine is an M12 triple-square / 12-splined tool.

Gedore do an excellent one on a 1/2" drive which is quite long and reaches inside the head easily. Their part no. is INX 19 L 12-100.
