Cutting out

Ive got a 1.8 gti and when on motorway after fee miles if I accelerate from say 60-70 it misses briefly and backfires and keeps doing this unless I slow down. I have replaced plugs, cap, leads, rotar arm and coil and is still happening. Any ideas??

could be the start of fueling issues, check filler neck and inside the tank for rust, check in the how2 section for a great guide on this. go for a fuel injector test too as per the guide to the left

Thanks jonny. Just seems a bit strange thow that I can drive off motorway with no probs but as soon as high speed starts doing it!
