Core Plug - Behind Gearbox.

Post

I'm nearly at the end of a story of leaks that would bore anybody rigid - Mk1 Forum or not 😀.

I'm seeing a drop of antifreeze off the bottom of the bell housing every so often - take it as read that all of the hoses etc above have been replaced. A million times.

I think there's a coreplug behind the transaxle? If so, are they a common problem? Can't see an issue with any of the others & from previous experience when one goes others are normally on the way out too.

Cheers

Lee

does this help:

the big one may be where they line bore the int shaft holes mind, but the wee one looks liek it could be coolant?

is it definitly not the side flange leakign though, they're prone to it with age. if its a metal one you can just change the seal, if plastic do the whole thing as they warp

Thanks for the picture that's really helpful. The flange was leaking, I've fitted a new gen one - and the hose. And a new connector that goes between the hose and the heater hose and and and …I did say it could get boring.

It appears to have stopped, there was only a drop off of the gearbox. I'm hopiing that its a drop that was trapped after taking the hose off. If not I know the answer now!

Thanks again, Lee.
