Cold Start Valve
I have a 1.8 gti cabby, and have had the engine replaced. Since i have had it done, the cold start valve has been unplugged because if its plugged in, it seems to flood the engine (thats what im guessing anyway from the smell of petrol!)
Haven't had a problem with it so far, but its really struggling to start now its so cold.
Dont know that much about cars etc, but have read a few posts on here about a thermo time switch. How much do these roughly cost (and where can i get one from), or is there anything else worth trying?
Im slowly trying to get everything working properly on it cos there's been loads of problems since the engine change.
Any help much appreciated….Thanks!!!!

The injector should run for about 8 secs after starting - you can test this easily by removing the injector and pointing it into a bottle - try and start and see what happens.

I'm sure this is just a typo error as I sometimes do the same thing when either rushing or thinking of more than one thing at a time while typing, but before you test things it should be cleared up. That 8 seconds is while starting and not after starting. The power is only applied while the key is turned to the start position. It also depends on the temperature of the engine, based on the thermo-time switch, and could be 0 - about 8 seconds (warm to cold).
