Cold start - dies?

Hi!

I am having a cold start issue.
When i crank it it starts after ~10-15 seconds.
It idles very low and if i touch the gas it dies. If i gently press the gas i can make it rev.
After ~2 minutes of lumpy idle it is good to go.

At first i thought it could be the 5th injector problem but i've noticed that there is a lot of misfire, both early and late (in the exhaust and in the inlet). That would normally make me suspect the ignition system.

Can anyone help me here what to look for?

Its a 1.6 GTI EG engine. New injectors, plugs and cables.

I was wondering if an extra earth connection could be the solution for a weak spark causing the misfire, when the engine is cold?

Check the mixture. I reckon its too rich.

i have exactly the same problem as this, have you had any joy with a solution? Will try adjusting the mixture later this week and keep you posted.

Yesterday i checked the 5th injector and it is spraying as it should.

How do i make it run more lean? Turn the adjustment screw at the metering head?

How far should i turn it to notice any difference? And is it clockwiser or anti clockwise?

lean = anticlockwise. You ideally need to measure it (mixture) while adjusting. Its very sensitive, so try 1/8 turn or less, initially.
