Cold air intake

Rebuilding a 1.8 gti engine and sourced an original foam intake pipe that comes off the air box and goes down to ????

Thats my question guys where does it go to or does it just hang and suck cold air from underneath?  :roll:

I'm no expert, but my engine has an intake pipe that poinrts at the air box, and leads down to the underside of the grille, presumably scooping air from the front.

Always wondered if this should be connected to the air box?

there is a plastic housing that screws into a hole on the slam panel, this is where the foam pipe goes to

I have done away with mine. Don't think it is required 2 be honest. Does give more of a throatier sound though
