car wont start!!!

 right then!
ive got a standard 1.8 k-jet gti which wont start when the external temperature is really cold.
the car will turn over nicely but wont catch, we have checked the plugs and they are sparking nicely.
ive just replaced the starter motor too, but it still wont catch.
the fuel pump is working fine and fuel is getting there cos you can bump start her and the engine runs sweetly.
the inside of the dizzy cap is dry and clean, so ive ruled that out. not sure about the inside rotor though, should i replace this anyway? as i cant imagine it will be too pricey?
i was thinking along the lines of a new coil, leads and batt?

any ideas would be grately recieved guys,

cheers, a very stationary and annoyed Jon-Boy

Battery I would guess, not able to turn it over fast enough and give a spark. when you bump you are not draining voltage for the starter.

That were I would start anyway good luck  :D

well i have now replaced the battery, coil and rotor arm and it starts ok.
going to have to wait until we get a real bad frost again to see whether it has made a change, as that was what the weather was like when it was struggling.
 cheers

Cold does effect the performance of the battery, looking at the weather forcast you wont have to wait to long.

glad all seems better.

Not a battery problem - mine starts fine after 2 weeks of sitting, and it normally turns over slowly after 2 weeks of sitting there!! - Glad its running now.
