bad day new fan belt snapped!!!!!! wrong expansion tank pics

What a bad day just had a new fan belt rad and water pump fitted by local garage as well as cam belt too. I was driving back from town and noticed battery light was on. I managed to drive it home but when i parked it up steam poured from collant bottle and i noticed NO fan belt.
Would this of done any harm.
i will call garage 1st thing monday and have a go but not sure if they do anything.

I wouldn't have a go at them straight away, you want them to fix it, sounds like they never replaced the belt of didn't tighten it up enough?

Depends how far you drove without the water pump working, if it had just started to boil up you'll prob be OK, if you've run it for miles with no water in it, could be bad.

Yeah sounds like they either didn't fit a new one, or tightened it incorrectly!

Hopefully it hasn't cooked your head gasket, howevr you've got a bit of comeback with the garage if it has, they should do you a deal on any repairs as it was technically there fault!

yea would think a later Cabrio should have a water level sender. The connector thats almost out of shot with the white plastic sheaf and blue scotch lock looks like the wiring that would go to it. The scotch lock might be short/earth the wires so the clocks think the sender is there and working?

ah that would prob explain why temp gauge is not working. dont suppose you know best place to get the part from gsf maybe if so i could do with part number.
cheers

nah its not connected to the gauage itself, it makes the red LED in the gauge flash when the water level falls.

The gauge sender is screwed into the block.

oh right it's just garage said the reason why gauge was not working was due to wrong tank! does it make any different with the tank the red light does glow but only when i turn ignition on.
