Audi 2ltr Bubble Block 16v conversion

Post

2ltr con.jpg I have a Audi 2ltr bubble type block engine with a DX gti mk1 cylinder head on. Could a mk2 16v KR type head be fitted or would there be a problems with the compression and pistons? Any information would be a help, I know it would be easier to just change a complete engine but I would like to use what I already
have.

There would be problems, there's so many detail differences its just not worth messing around. You can get 2.0 16V engines too, for example 9A from the Passat 16V or the Mk3 GTI 16V engine.

Since you have a nice 2.0 8V it would make sense to do the engine conversion with it!

I hear what you are saying but before I put the engine back in I was enquiring what would be involved as the Head gasket for both engines is the same I was wondering if the head would fit.

Would need 2.0 16v pistons so really not worth doing, I got my engine from a 2.0 16v audi 80 with 6a that I bought for £230. Needs sump, oil pump pickup, and oil filter housing from a transverse engine to fit in my golf but had them in stock
