anyone actually FIXED a oil buzzer problem?
Well ive got the usual problems with buzzer, once warm…the buzzer comes on if im at around 2-2.5k rpm whilst driving. If i rev it above that the buzzer goes off until i get to 2k ish again.
Anyone had similar problem and actually fixed it, read up on some of the possible causes but if you have sorted yours, please let me know what you done.
Replaced the filter housing switch (white one) didnt realise there was one on the block so shall i try replacing that too? That ones black? Eurocarparts list them in colours, so is it the same part as the other switch but different colour?
REALLY annoying me now!

thats how i fixed mine (after changing both oil pressure sensors, oil pump, fitting VDO gauges, having minor nervous breakdown)wack the dash as soon as the light comes on if it goes out its something to do with the instrument panel.also worth checking the earth lead to the rocker cover (if fitted) good luck

have you tried changing the voltage regulater in the dash , looks like a space invader or checking it is fitted right.

Whacking the clocks fixes mine too when it does occasionally go off, but I do have VDOs (in the GTI) to prove the pressure is good. Suggest you actually check the oil pressure to confirm it is an electrical false alarm and not really low pressure :dontknow:

cheers people, i'll try the dash twat.
Early 1800….
How exactly do i check the oil pressure? Ive got a oil press gauge in there but not wired in, is it simply a case of running a wire to the block pressure switch or oil filter switch? Also leave both terminals on or disconnect the other when replaced with the gauge wire?
thanks again.

well, changed the other pressure switch today, the lower one on the side of the head, hopefully ive chose the right two to replace them, anyone know what bar they should be> think one was 0.4- summit and the other 1.6-2. summit lol!
Didnt help anyway, still the same.
Then checked the brown earth to the rocker, pretty much fell off, so extended it and replaced with new terminal, it seems *better* might just be me but didnt seem to come on as often? Would this earth cause trouble with the light and buzzer? Only comes on though at certain revs remember?
Also my handbrake light has started flashing a bit, usually at low revs, seems like a poor connection, flickering….
Could these be linked?
ITS DOING ME IN! :dontknow:

You need the correct sender that matches the gauage, if VDO usually 5 or 10 bar. They usually come in a twin setup in which one bit replaces the low pressure switch and the other is the sender for the guage. They screw and replace one of the oil pressure switchs.

A friendly garage might be able to test the pressure for you :dontknow:
The hand brake light is also a warning from the brake fluid res, check its no too low.

yeh cheers shecked the fluid, looks ok..
will check the wire to the switch at handbrake, sure my old one was dodgy there.
I might look into a gauge sender, any links to where i can get them?
Also going to see about a pressure check, sorry but what should it be?
thanks again. gaz

Gave up trying to sort mine - changed the sensors, changed the clocks!!! put in oil pressure gauge - pressure fine. Finally put a blob of blutack in the buzzer, so at least it's quiet! Not happy with bodges though, would much rather have sorted it…

i actualy sorted mine out!!
i changed my clocks last summer as it had a set in it with dodgy white dials!! so i fitted a set of standard ones and as soon as i revved it above 2000 rpm the buzzer went off. so i swaped the L shaped board on the back of the clocks and it was fine after that. on closer inspection of the old L board it looked like it had blown a resistor. there is a link on here i think on how to change it or it might be on clubgti.
good luck!!!
