Alternator ??? size Amps

Hi all

New to the world of Golf's so know little about them at the moment always been an air cooled man.

I got a tidy MK1 GTI cabrio 1.8i (1985 very late B plate) for the wife but needs a new alternator (plug connection) but been quoted a number of sizes 45, 55, 60 or 90 Amps.
Does anyone know what size is the correct one???

Hi Bugs, Have checked EKTA for you,  These engines use 65Amp-CX,AX,TX,EX,X,MX,LX,NX,PX. The following may use 90Amp-B,AX,X, I guess if fitted with heated seats / power hood / aircon as option. Off the top of my head, can't tell which of these are injection engines.
Hope this helps (a bit), a least you know its likely to be a 65 !.

Bit confussed because I've had people offering me Alts but not all look the same?

Mine a 1.8i GTI cabby "B" Reg 1985 (feb)
It's got a Bosch alt at the moment plug in type.
Engine code starts with DX

can any one send pic of what my Alt should look like??
Whats the best work shop manual to get??
