Alternator removal, help!!
Looking at the front of the car, the alternator has a long, bolt, similar to the adjusting bolt, but the bolt has a round shiny head, cant get a socket/spanner on it.
The bolt has a thread on the other side. iread there is no thread in between, How can i remove the bolt, it's bloody tight! :dontknow:

not really sure why your having a prob with this to be honest
the long bolt in Q is a 6mm alloy key to release it , Its behind a blanking grommet on the top timing cover.
If some-one has rounded it you might need to take the top timing belt cover of to get a better look.

I would suggest you get a spare before continuing - especially if its likely that you'll round off the socket. If you do, you may be able to get a mole wrench on the head if, as baz says, you remove the inner upper timing cover. Last one I had stuck, I think I got it out by using a 7mm 12 point socket wrench and hammering the b*gger into the rounded socket recess. Give it a fair squirt of penetrating oil on the treaded part and let it soak in for a few hours
Don't forget to put some coppaslip on the thread of the bolt before you put it back.
