alternator bracket problem. HELP

right, im currently in the process of re-building an engine, (8v Gti DX Engine)

the engine i got came with no alternator, so i thought i use my current one which is is perfect working order.

iv got 3 alternator brackets but none of them fit right……

the head with part number



bracket 1 (space at the head end)


bracket 2 has a washer (space at the head end)



iv also fitted this bracket which was on my old engine but still problems

now…. iv got another alternator, but dont know if it works. i put it against my new alternator and noticed the thickness of metal where the bolt goes through…….and then i lined it up with bracket 2 which came with the engine and its perfect for old alternator.



SO…..does any1 know which bracket i need?
………do i use old alternator?
………do i grind some metal of the new alternator to make fit?

I've got a dx too.

I had 2 brackets for the alternator.

Looks like you have the bent bracket the wrong way around?

Yeah the serated edge on the bracket needs to be facing the left hand side of the engine bay.
