Age and origin of engine ?

Hi,

I've had a look on the site but can't find a way to confirm the age and origin of the engine I have fitted?

 EG210132

I know my car should have a 1.8 but has a 1.6.

I have been trying to get this running properly, since I bought it but have been "Correcting" other peoples mistakes. I now seem to have the wiring sorted but would like to know more about the origins of the engine as I'm guessing a bit when identifying wireing and vacuum pipes.

Any help appreciated.
