ABT Tuning Engine

Hi, I'm here a newbie from the Czech Republic.
I have a question.
Has anyone information about this engine? I have one, but I do not know anything about it.

No idea about ABT but that's a Golf Mk2 fitting, look at the inlet manifold. To fit a Mk1 you'd need to use a Mk1 inlet manifold (and throttle body) or relocate the airbox to the other side of the car.

For Mk1, that will also include Mk2 Scirocco which is pretty much the same under the bonnet for component layout.

I use a inlet manifold and other stuffs from my scirocco Mk2. That's not problem. But i don't know any infos about this engine. And I must modify the valve cover for the throttle cable. Unfortunately, someone had this engine in the Jetta MkII, although originally is from MkI.

What if the throttle body has been upgraded or modified?

What material is the valve cover, can a bracket be welded onto it?

The valve cover is made of aluminium and the throttle body is only mechanical, without contacts.

What have you done with the rocker cover ?
I think that is a very rare engine you have there !!

Rocker cover is on ABT engine, the photo with engine inside the car is old engine 1.8 8v JH 95hp. I want to swap it.

I think ABT is a german tuner or maybe french not sure. Christian Abt was racing TT's about 8 years ago as they had a stand at Austrian Treffen when we went over.
I can only asume its a family name / tuning company.
I saw a ABT rocker cover on here a while ago for sale at around £400 !! and i have never seen a stamped up block or sump.
So i think you have something special.

Well, you'll need to either adapt the throttle body for the Mk1 fitment (the Mk2 fitment will have the throttle cable the wrong way round) or get another similar sized one. If you don't, it will be a restriction and you'll never see the benefit of any of the other mods. Same goes for the inlet manifold, its probably been modified.

Apart from that, I guess its still around 1800cc, with a hot cam and probably a ported/polished head too. So I'd guess 130-135bhp.

Might be better off selling to someone with a mk2, than trying to adapt to the scirocco?
