8V K-Jetronic Question

Hi…I'm currently restoring an '82 Mk1 GTI and i'm in a bit of a dilemma on what to do with K-Jet system and the air cleaner box.

We don't have the luxury of getting carbs here so is there any way of dressing up the engine, but still maintain the K-Jet?

All showcars I've seen in magazines, uses carbs. But are there any out there that still use the stock air cleaner/box?

Basically, the plan is to clean up the bay a little bit, relocating the battery, relocating the oil cooler, and a bit of wire tucking.Well, this is the plan at least…

We don't really have shows here, so dressing up the car to show standards in uk would be impossible. I just want something that looks clean and can be DRIVEN every day.

I'm so lost I need some direction…please help.

The bonnet covers up the engine, in day-to-day use. So I can't really see a problem with the GTI engine as it is?

hmmm…good point.

I'm fine with the engine, just rebuilding it actually. I'll have to see what we can do to make the bay look tidy, with the air cleaner and fuel distributer in there….

9a passat/corrado has a plastic trim that covers the metering head, which would help a bit. the lines themsleves there isnt much you can do with them except clean off any rust and give a coat of paint.
