I think he meant which particular parts?

There's a lot which isn't the same, firstly with being a cabby vs hatchback, secondly because one has a carb and the other a fuel injection engine; and lastly because of the age difference.

Also bear in mind that often parts wear out, eg suspension dampers, exhaust, etc; or trim snaps off or seals go hard. So, often you'll find that most cars wear in the same way, so a donor car will typically have the same worn out stuff, and be no better.

Also, you have to ask why its a spares/repairs car, or so cheap. Probably because its in worse condition than your runner?

So…..no, not worth it, but if you want an odd looking and cramped "garden shed", go for it!

two of them are cabs ,was more  interested in body parts and hood frame ,window frame clipper kit dont give a rats about an automatic engine dont think they should of been put in a golf anyway buts thats just my view but was just enquiring as to what parts would be the same thanks .the reason its so cheap is because the shitty irish government have a tax on imports called vrt and it ranges from 900 to 1600 on a 1983  gti cab ,the auto is on english plates so thought it would be good for parts

aha. well most of the trim is the same between them, the later cabs got modified bits which are better than the early parts as well.

the 1.8 bottom end is the same as a GTI 1.8 lump, so that would be good to use if your 83 is a 1.8 as well, less likely to have been thrashed.

tank and filler neck are different so no good, though i think if you cut the end of the filler neck down it will fit?

clipper kit fetch loads of money if the oem vag ones, so i'd get that sold. 83s look best on small bumpers :)
