There's a lot which isn't the same, firstly with being a cabby vs hatchback, secondly because one has a carb and the other a fuel injection engine; and lastly because of the age difference.
Also bear in mind that often parts wear out, eg suspension dampers, exhaust, etc; or trim snaps off or seals go hard. So, often you'll find that most cars wear in the same way, so a donor car will typically have the same worn out stuff, and be no better.
Also, you have to ask why its a spares/repairs car, or so cheap. Probably because its in worse condition than your runner?
So…..no, not worth it, but if you want an odd looking and cramped "garden shed", go for it!

the 1.8 bottom end is the same as a GTI 1.8 lump, so that would be good to use if your 83 is a 1.8 as well, less likely to have been thrashed.
tank and filler neck are different so no good, though i think if you cut the end of the filler neck down it will fit?
clipper kit fetch loads of money if the oem vag ones, so i'd get that sold. 83s look best on small bumpers
