2.0 16v thermostat

my mates car started overheating today, top hose is red hot and bottom hose is cold would this be the thermostat?? And where the heck is it, there are loads of housings on the engine?? Its got the 2.0 16v conversion??

Most likely thermostat assuming you dont have a blockage and that the waterpump hasnt failed (rarely do) thermostat is housed in the housing on the bottom of the waterpump dont forget to order a new o ring
