if it was me id put the 2l 8v in the mk1 instead!
to fit 2l 8v to mk2 you need to change the manifold, then all the engine loom for 8v k-jet/digifant as you'll need all the 16v bits for the mk1.  then you need a custom mk1 16v manifold/downpipe setup.

if you want to run 2.0 8v in mk2 i'd fit mk2 8v head, and digifant loom from a pre-90 GTI. 8v manifold will fit existing downpipe so zaust can be left on at least, hack up the 16v metering head feed/return lines to get the barbed fittings out of them, these fit on the 16v under car lines and the digi pipes will push straight on.

Did some research Jonny... the PCD of the merc wheel is 5X112. What can i use to make this work??Cant do porche adaptors, they not availabl down here and probly cost an arm!!The Caravelle, Passat 96, Transporter uses the same PCD far as i know?? Could the hubs perhaps be fitted on the mk1???

got me on that one! i dont think mk3 hubs fit mk1 bearing carriers, iirc the bearing is too small. mk2 type hubs can be fitted but you have to deal with bump steer as the track rod attachment is too low!

:banghead: aaaah too bad! I saw theres an adaptor available for 4X100 to 5X112 but the one hole sits too close to the other… Have a look at these….

What ya think?? it'll work? looks like its actually just held to the hub with 3 studs :dontknow: how do i get it centric anyway

well three bolts was good enough for citroen
cant say either way if that would be ok or not, I'm no engineer!  Looks like it is at least hubcentric so it should centre ok.  If its centred properly there should be no shear forces on the bolts, its all about clamping pressure and friction!
