16v non starter

No spark

My car has been off the road all winter and in that time I've carried out a few jobs but once it was all back together it won't start, the appear to be no spark. The engine is a 2.0 16v on k jet, it's from an Audi but I'm not sure which code it is.

I'll list the engine bay jobs carried out just incase any of it could have affected it.

Injectors were out getting new seals
Metering head was removed and cleaned
Inlet manifold was off to be powder coated
New engine mounts fitted
New dizzy cap and arm
Around the engine bay was jet washed (maybe water in somewhere?)

Right so there's no spark and I've already checked a few things. The rotar arm spins when cranking over the engine, the coil was tested and gave 11.2 volts and I've checked all plugs and connections, some wires had to be re-connected as they were coming away from the spades. Also the wires came out of the throttle body plug but they've been re-connected, I'm 99% certain they're in the correct positions.

With the help of a guy on the Facebook page I ran a wire from the middle wire on the dizzy plug to an earth with the ignition on but I wasn't entirely sure what I was looking for? The was a noise came from inside the dizzy when I done this though. He also said it could be the ECU module, is that the ignition module that's under the metal cover in the scuttle? Is it worth changing that?

I really need to get my car on the road for the beginning of next month so any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Si

Are you getting voltage to the coil whilst cranking?

Have you double checked the hall sender plug on the dizzy as that can cause issues.

Daft question but the king lead is connected properly isn't it?

I haven't tested the coil whilst cranking so I'll give that a go tomorrow.

Th hall sender plug seems to be good, no loose wires and clips in nice and tight.

The king lead is on properly, I've had it on and off a few times but I always make sure it's properly connected back in.

I'm going to run another earth tomorrow as a few people have said the 16v can suffer badly from a bad earth.

I'll let you know how I get on on

Well I added in another earth from the block to the bulkhead but still not starting. I was on my own so wasn't able to test the coil whilst cranking.

I've bought a replacement ignition module and coil to give them a try and if they don't then I know I can definitely rule them out.

What else could be the cause? Maybe the ECU?

Problem solved. It turned out that the brown and white wire to the hall sender was broken down in the loom.

Today is a good day

Cheers for all the help guys
