16v manifold on 8v engine

right here's my problem.

I've got a basic 1.1 mk1 golf and i'm having an engine transplant. the new engine is going to be an 8v gti engine running a carb. i want the manifold and exhaust to be standard vw kit at the moment.

so basically thinking of running a standard mk1 gti exhaust and using a 16v manifold as apparently the outlet's are lager, so better performance???

does any one know if this is the case and if it is possible to fit a 16v manifold to an 8v engine in a mk1?? or should i just stick with the 8v manifold!

A 16v manifold will not fit onto an 8v head without work.
