16v 3rd gear red line big white smoke

hi all

was burning around today

and loads of white smoke out the back came going 60mph

out of gear and back in and more …then pulled over on tik over ..bit of gas still pure white smoke    then started to go again less and less got home and big pond of oil from the metering head and air fitter

wat happen ……. :dontknow:

partially clogged breather which eventually cleared and dumped oil into the airbox perhaps. clean out the breather system and check your oil isnt overfilled

just make's me a bit better now i know the engin is still ok and will make it to the mk1 show ……

will not rape it anymore now …….thats wat ive got a scooby for  

will drive her nicely ……..and just pose in her …… 8)

head gasket? white smoke from exhaust,any water loss? or grey smoke from a good thraping?  :wink:

been driving her nicly to and nothing like smoke is coming out

did think what may happen if i boot it …


well i did    no smoke …2nd 3rd up to and be,on  redline ..all good

what was wrong then

i recon it just chucked oil thru the breather system, theory backed up by big pool of oil in the airbox. it can happen if the breathers arnt fully clear and/or you overfill the oil

16v breathes pretty heavily, sometimes a catch tank can help with this as well
