Has anyone had trouble with the fitting kits has any pictures off the mounts on the engine because I'm wondering if the driver's side one isn't right but I don't want to cut it and weld it if there's no need to. I got the kit about 2 or 3 years ago from Crazy quiffs. Cheers people.

Hi,

I had this exact thing a few weeks ago.  I was running epytec mounts, either side mounts were fine but the rear gearbox mount was the issue.  Firstly you need the gti rear mount beam as the 1.3 is different( which you probably already know).  You can get the 1.3 to bolt down but it pulls the engine back lifting the throttle body up towards the bonnet.

Then the second issue i had was i bolted the rear mount ( which i had to lengthen the horizontal plate by 2 inches) as i thought it should be fitted to the gearbox. It has 4 holes, so i expected them all to be filled so fitted it so.  Turns out in my case, (it may be different in yours) if i bolted the rear mount to the beam and let the engine sit naturally only 3 of the holes lined up.  The whole gearbox had moved up 1 hole on the bracket to where i fitted it before.

Bonnet now shuts properly with clearance, rear mount can be easily fitted without pushing or pulling the engine round and the passenger side driveshaft now looks straight.

Hope this helps.

Hi mate well even with my rear mount undone my bonnet don't shut this week I'm thinking about lowering the mount I welded in to pleace from when it was a 1.3 to a Gti. I'll keep you guys updated on what the out come is so hopefully helps others out to if they have the same problem but thanks you so much for your post

Hi guys just a quick update I have been in touch with crazy quifes about the issue I have with the engine sitting high because that's where the mounts are fromand it turns out they do a different mount for the agu engine code which sorts this problem out. There out off stock at the minute but as soon as they have them in I'll be trying one. So I'll be back in touch with the out come. Fingers crossed.

It sits loads better now the mount has made it sit lower I thought all the blocks would fit the same lol I guess we learn something new every day.
