BAM!

Audi TT 225.

but you could get the smaller 185 (AGU) one and stick it on qpeng management and then you'll get around 220bhp anyway and it'll be cheaper!

185 AGU….. Are you sure ??

I thought the AGU was 150, and pushing 200> through the agu will apparently pop your turbo.

AGU is a popular choice due to the strong internals and cheaper to buy than the TT engine.

Bigger is not always best, will you be able to put 200 horses on the tarmac ??

MK1 83 Jetta… 2ltr 16v ACE
MK1 88 caddy pickup 20VT soon
MK2 Golf 90spec 2ltr ABF coming soon
T5 TDI

for out and out power its BAM, but thats drive by wire throttle….so could be harder, for ease of nutterage its has to be AGU with the cable throttle, 150bhp out of the box, and can be had to over 200 with mods, but tbh more than 200 or so in a mk1 is more for showing off than being useful its only a light car you will get further with mild more useable power and better handling and brakes

My mates "AGU" running close to 300 bph struggles off the line but caught up with the other car and put in a 13.10 at Santa Pod.

So yes you can get the power down, only thing is getting that speed costs ????????

His "new" caddy currently being built @ Sub11 is going to be 465bhp with NOS crazy crazy stuff.

Im not sure it will ever get off the line !!!!!!!!!!!!

dont get me wrong if you are willing to spend the dollar then a AGU can be made to have high power…. but once you have spent the dollar is it really an AGU any more?    what sepertes a BAM with modded internals, new turbo, remap etc from an AGU with modded internal and a remap? not much really…. cable throttle vs drive by wire, maybe a couple other slight things.

also power is good but as any chassis engineer more than 200 or so in fwd will never put the power down really well with out trick bits like an LSD and careful set up of suspension, wheel choice, tyre choice, and even then a well set up car with 200 or so bhp will be faster round a track / on the roads than something running 300+ imho

my next cars having a 250bhp limit again but I will be paying far far closer attention to set up of the suspension and tyre choices etc,

My cabby is having a 1.8 16v turbo kr engine fitted very soon, running approx 180/190 bhp.

Not sure you need much more in a golf tbh.

my super charged one is running about 190 - 200 with the lack of wieght its fast enough    but actually slightly  slower round the very tight and twisty curbourough sprint track than my old 8v with 125bhp    as it wont put the power down mid corner like the 8v would,
