1.6 gti turbo technics set up and tuning help

Post

Hi,
I have a 1.6 GTI 8v with an after market bolt on Turbo Technics kit and following a rebuild I am now having tuning and running problems, following a couple of attempts of get it rolling road and static tuning I am no further on, I need a and old boy tuner or a garage that can help, I have already tried the mighty stealth racing with no success seems Vince has set his mind on newer plug and play tuning not our mechanical k jet systems
The car will miss/bog on low revs but when it gets into boost 3500rpm or over will fly along with no problem the plugs are black with soot witch indicates to me to rich mixture although I have been told the Co has been set at idle.
Help please needed as I am in despair beyond belief its been at this stage for around 2 months thanks in advance to anyone who can help I am in the Coventry area.

Not really up with turbos but if the car is bogging down I would be checking the timing on my standard car.
What fuel are you using, Super unleaded is best for these engines as setting the timing will be different depening on what fuel is being used.
Advance the timing till it pinks under load the back it off a little so it stops and see what's it like the drive, best to mark where is dissy is now so if it all goes pair shaped you can return it back.

What is your CO2 reading at idle?

1988 Mk1 Golf GTi Cabriolet 1.8cc DX, K-jet. Daily drive. 317,000 miles and counting
1978 Mk1 Scirocco GLS 1.6cc FR, Webber carb. Weekend toy.

Thanks for te reply I have been using bp super unleaded and I have set the timing to 30 degrees btdc at 4000 rpm witch it states on the vin ate for the turbo technics convention
so my timing is correct I was wondering if it would be a fuel pressure issue and I don't know what the co is he never told me :(
