1.6 gti tuning

Hi all
I have a 83 1.6 gti looking to tune the original engine, any ideas of what works best and where to get parts from ?

K&N air filter, or similar, then sports exhaust and manifold. Type in either of those with mk1 golf to any search engine and you should come up with something to spend your money on.

Those parts won't add any power though….

For a 1.6, the WUR mod and a larger throttle body would probably add a bit, so long as its set up properly. Then you're into aftermarket cams, or head work, etc.
