1.6 gti temperature gauge not working.......

Some help needed. This week my temp gauge has stopped working. Where should i look first for a fix?

The fan still appears to be cutting in ok.

I was hoping to drive down to cornwall monday but if i can't get it working this weekend would it be advisable not to take the 6 and 1/2 hour journey without a temperature gauge…….??

In colchester of there's anyone around that could help!!

Just noticed mine not workin this morning either would also like a point in the right direction

make sure the cable connecting to one of the bolts on the rocker cover is attached (normally back right)  This happened to me a while back when I replaced my rocker cover and forgot to re attach the wire.

look for a red/yel wire to a black sensor in one of the coolant flanges on the head, thats the coolant temp. earth the wire, if gauge goes to full then its a sensor fault, if not its a wire or dash fault

Turns out that the wire had come loose and was just hanging there! Noticed by MK1 Gti owner John (who i didn't know until today) that happened to drive by when i was about to look at it try and fix it!

All good now.
