will not start-was fine yesterdaye

Hi guys, new here.
Ok so on saturday I brought myself a 1984 mk1 cabbie 1.6 carb. It was running fine with no issues. Finished work last night got in it and turned over tbe ignition. The engine turned over but when I tied giving it some gas to get it on it just wouldnt work. Left it for 30 secs and tried it again and it started fine.
This morning ive gone to get in the car to head back to work, tried turning the engine over but nothing at all. I hear a click from the fuseboard which I think is the relay and a click under the bonnet but nothing more. The battery seems to be fine all my lights are working and full beam. Could anyone help please :-(
Thanks

if the you hear a click from the starter motor that that is the soliniod working, if that works the motor should start turning

stick some jump leads on it seems like a flat battery to me :)

Ive just unplugged battery abd fixed it back in, connected it back up and still nothing, doing exactly the same. When I turn ignition on I have the battery light and oil light flashing, this is normal anyway before you turn the car over isnt it?

Do you have a multimeter? Worth a voltage check of the battery. Measure the voltage and let us know what it is.

I dont unfortunatly. I had it working for about 2 minutes but then as it was cold it idled and shut down and wont turn over again. I bump started it but now it seems like theres nt enough power to bump it again. Ill let you kmow how it goes

Not enough power to bump start it? Do you mean you can't push it quick enough?

Tried jump starting off another car?

Nah I can get it rolling quick enough, just dont seem like theres much life in the battery for it to stsrt. Ive only had it linked up to a battery charger so far, got to wait for the mrs to get back fom work and link it to hers. Hopefully its just the battery not being charged up by the alternator but ill get it checked out tommorow

Bump starting doesn't need the battery to do anything - if its pushed quick enough, the power from the alternator alone, is enough to fire the coil.

Bump starting and jump starting are useful to help diagnose what is the problem, because they bypass certain components which might be faulty. eg starter motor, alternator, battery.
