whole variety of new issues... hehehe

o.k. so I have decided to invest my life's savings in another mk1 cabby (k plate black clipper!) which has been stood for three nd a half plus years, sounds sweet considering it's running on old fuel!
my first prob is this, I let the car idle for a good ten plus mins earlier only for it to overheat and spu the water out of the header tank when I turned it off, I didn't notice the fan cut in and the temp dial didn't move, could this be a duff pump or stat issue? the car has power steering and the belt that drives the pas pump is also the one for the water pump I do know it needs replacing as it's badly worn and the thing screeches when the steering is on full lock! (no milky-ness under the oil cap!)
my second prob  is the steering is notchy and I think it maybe the u/j on the steering column is at quite an angle plus also like I said in the first issue, the drive belt needs replacing….. help.. haha any suggestions very gratefully received!
gunna spend some time tomoz cleaning etc and stert to get a list together of parts needed, I hope to be driving this one upto the agm (first time I would have been to one! and will be driving up with bordnow ma bruv!!)
piccys to follow once I have cleaned 'er up a bit!  :)

No MK1s (RHD anyway) came with PAS so its a DIY job.

It may be a well engineered professional DIY job or a complete fowlup job that explains the issues with belts and steering knuckles.

To test the cooling fan side is working touch the wires from the rad switch together, the fan should run. If it does the problem is with the switch side of the circuit.
