Where does this wire go? 1.8 Clipper

Hello

I need a little help please:

I have been fixing a few broken wires and cannot work out where the Yellow and Black one goes shown below in the Yellow circle? The Black wire next to it goes to the part throttle channel heating element on the front of the Pierburg carb.

on mine the yellow/black wire connects into a spade plug with the single black wire that runs to the carb. possibly the one that you have connected right next to it.

dont know how to post pics but can email some pics if you wish.

Same as haysy, to a white connector/plug black wire and then disappears inbetween carb/cylinder head under air filter box

1983 Mars Red 1.8 Golf GTI
1987 Alpine White 1.8 Clipper Cabriolet

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

On mine, the two wires (black one and yellow/black) are crimped together (looks original) to a single spade plug. Is this what you are saying?

Err… what would happen if the part throttle channel heating element was never connected? I vaguely remember wondering what this unconnected wire was when I started the usual coolant channel o-ring change. I'm having stalling problems that haven't been solved. I also can't see anything to plug it into - will have to take the carb off again and examine it more closely.

Prepare yourself for me asking for some pics too if I can't find the socket on the carb..

Just had a look under the carb and there's a dot of copper oxide on the part throttle heating element… what used to be the wire from it!

Has probably never been connected since we've had the car (about 3 years) and it had been running ok-ish (bit of a fast idle and the occassional stalling on hard accelleration).

The yellow/black and black cable join to the black cable that comes from the part throttle heater. Mine was snapped off as well as you can see below but I have a spare carb that I have now swapped the part from. I have no idea what the part throttle heater does and I have not had a chance to drive the car since I fixed it. I might take it out in a bit too see if it drives any better

Well, it has worked ok without it… I'll leave it off my list of fault finding then, trying to sort out it's immediate non-running problem.

Thanks for the photo - It looked like it should be easy to remove, one screw.

ive yet to check if mines attatched to that part. will have a look tomorrow. not really worried as im fitting a weber 32.34 to it this weekend. had no problems with my pierburg one its been running on. but might as well put a better one on.

just curious though. in the same location as them wires i have a red/white wire with a plug on the end that isnt connected. i did look for somewhere for it to connect to but couldnt find anything. but the car has run fine.!!
