whats involved wih going from auto to a manual any help

Hi all DuB fans

I have a auto 1.8 carb soft top mk1 golf and want it to be a manual!

Are there any cars i can buy other then a mk1 golf to take
a gear box,
gear linkage,
gear stick,
pedalbox
and all the bits to make a manual from a auto golf????

Mabe a rocco or somthing like that or a mk2 golf

Hope some1 can help!   the auto box only has 3gears and it boreing a real waste to a 1.8   =)

Dont get a scirocco for the bits, they're slightly different - even though ETKA says otherwise! You'll need a Mk1 Golf - why not just trade it in for a manual? would save a LOT of work and hassle.

I remember someone saying rocco was different before, but so far no-one has ever been able explain exactly why this is. I cant think of anything off hand as the engine, gearbox, steering rack and gearstick are all mounted in the same place.  I even have several bits of scirocco linkage in my MK1 cab

I know the stick itself is bent, but thats the only difference I know of. Ohg and the rocco 16v relay shaft has a kink on the end to clear the exhaust.
