What's this? Cooling?

Right, had a major water leak on the way to work this morning, so got home, sourced the problem, removed the part (what was left of it) but it's got me stumped…..I haven't got a clue what it is :dontknow:


Anyone got any ideas at all? Or even got a part number for the GSF catalogue?

If it's any help the car's an '82 1500.  Pics below.

I just put the pt no in to ETKA and it comes up with description 'Dual Thermo Switch.'

I've not seen one before so I don't know exactly what it does as not on my GTI but would guess it's for cooling fan or similar.

Cheers for that, just need to find one now.  VW made them obsolete in 2002…..

Scrappy? I don't know if they'd use it on other VAG group cars? I know for eg that ignition switch on MK1 is used on some buses!!

emailed GSF with a photo and what you gave me from ETKA.  It's part number  93487 @ ? 21.00=vat.  Just incase anyone else should need one.
