what can it be

ok where shall i start, i have got a 93 clipper and i had a problem where the car kept dying after a good five minute drive, so i replaced the carb to a weber, and still had the problem, so then i replaced the fuel neck and removed the fuel tank and cleaned it, also changed the fuel filter, so after about 1 month and say about 250 miles i had the same problem last week and found that there was shed loads of dirt in the filter, so i changed the filter and done about 5 miles and, it done it again, so today I had the carb cleaned and also fit another fuel filter, and once I had it going again, it just lost power when I was going up a hill, it didn?t start straight away, but I kept the pedal down and it started, but after say 500 yards it did it again, when I eventually got it home I noticed more dirt in the new fuel filter,  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:

what can be the problem :dontknow:
DO I NEED A NEW FUEL TANK? :dontknow:
please help  :ouch:

Check the metal send and return pipes that run under the car, check all hoses and connections are sound. You say you replaced the filler neck so this should be ok.

Can you tell if its dirt or rust in the filter? You would only get a lot of rust coming through to the filter if something was rusting and collapsing into the fuel system i.e a filler neck. When you flushed the tank could you see sound metal inside it? Possible the tank is rusting, but not sure you would get a lot of debris and likely you would get fuel leaks :dontknow:

Well if it keeps appearing in the filter that regularly something must be rusting away as we speak. Are you sure there was absolutley no rust left in the bottom of the tank after you flushed it? Do you have an inspection cover under the rear seat to look down into the tank? Worth a look with a torch.
