the vacuum system is a bit fiddly and you need to make sure the start up sensors are working (the 2 on the block that people seem to think make any diffrence after the first 5 mins)

I was asking why fit original carb if weber was fine, why not wait til for example it knackers up, least then he has a genunie carb with lesser miles and perfect working order ready to go on.
If it's not broke don't fix it.
Since my first ever vw i fitted a weber and better the devil you know etc

I thought it be pointless in my opinon to mess about when not needed unless carb was faulty, but everyone has there views and reasons, he'd get some money for it when he sells anyhow

I agree with what both Pete and Novo say really, no point making it standard for standards sake, and at the same time not much point putting a weber on in my opinion, but each to there own, and that wasn't really the questioon asked
Just check your vacuum pipes are in the right place and that you put the original airbox with the flap back on (and it works), as the pierburg seems to like this working properly
Also check the little electric heater on the side (of the carb) is working too, its not critical except when it gets cold, like it is now for example
