weber carb or not??

Hi i have a clipper with a problematic carb. on autochoke it goes up to 3.5k, finally settles down to about 1.2k but engine very hot and then randomly when driving along it'll kick back upto 3.5k again!! is it worth stripping and trying to fix or swapping it for a weber???

cheers

Definitely weber.

Noticeably more power
Far better economy
Nicer throttle response

I had one with a very retro manual choke control too on a Clipper Cabrio 1.8 - transformed the car.

Cheers,

Drew.

would you recommend standard air box set up or fitting k & n type filter to it, or would this cause issues with frosting???

Same thing here on the starting @ 3.5k. I tap the throttle and let it go down to 1.5k..

Can you get automatic choke webers? IE you don't have to make it a manual choke?

Not sure to be honest but from what i've been told the manuals are better. also i noticed down from the left of my steering wheel there is what i think is a space for manual choke!!!

Yea I've seen it as well.

Im HIGHLY tempted as my 1B3 is being a ***** in the cold, although hopefully its just a vac problem which I'll sort on saturday.

How easy is it to route the manual choke cable?

Also is there anyone in the Berkshire area who will help with this conversion for a back of beers?

Windsor, you?

My test is in two weeks and I won't have any cash for one until after April but its 100% on the list along with some 6x4 speakers..

Any idea on how it would impact insurance (Direct Line)?

Its a mod but I could say no mod no usable car (in the very cold :p)
