Weber 36tlp (1B3 replacement) mixture adjustment

I need to adjust the mixture on this as it is wrong (long story).

Car is misfiring on throttle change, but runs fine at idle, constant throttle and under full throttle.

The plugs are fairly black.

So I need to know if screwing out (anti-clockwise) adds less or more air at idle?

Will take it to be done properly when I get a chance (Only use it rarely so no matter if it's rough and ready!)

Cheers!

clockwise to weaken the mixture. (there's a chapter on your carb in the Haynes no. 4177)

I'd clean the plugs first, then go 1/2 a turn at a time to get it ball-park correct.

I may be stating the obvious, but the mixture screw is covered by a "tamper proof" plug - it's the idle speed screw that's the big, obvious one.
