weber 32/24 air filter options...

Hello all, cheers for your help so far in getting me weber up and running…

I was wondering, what are the sort of options I have for the air filter for the weber 32/34 DMTL? The way I see it so far is:

1. Use totally standard filter type
2. Pancake filter directly on top of the carb
3. Cone filter on end of inlet tube?

Can anyone shed some light onto what would be the best option? For some reason I like the idea of a cone filter and have one spare, would this work ok? Any advice v much appreciated ;)

Well for a manual choke carb, cone is most free flowing but loud. Standard air box allows quick warming to eliminate cars freeze.

So its up to you, what do you want? Practicality? Noise?

Hi, only just noticed somebody replied to this!

Well, I dont mind a bit of noise really, and am only really using the car for the warmer months, and I have a cone already from my old mk2 golf to put on. I'm a little bit confused as to the arrangement of everything:

Do I just take the standard air filter out of the standard air filter housing, and attach the cone to the end of the intake hose? Or do I need to replace the whole air filter housing too? It seems a bit daft to have the existing housing without a filter in it?

Also, my intake hose has melted at some point, having been rested on something hot, so if the cone's going on the end, I'll need to change that hose. Where can I get new shiny heat-resistant intake hose from?

Cheers guys
