Wax Stat Valve
My mk1 1984 gl is very lumpy in the morning. It just doesn't start and the manual choke does not work. I have to push the accelerator all the way down and then after 2-3 cranks, it starts but is very lumpy. When it warms up (after 10-15 mins, then it's ok - revs are 700-800).
I have been told the first thing I should change is the above valve. I will do this tomorrow. Can anybody else advise me on what else I should be doing?
All help appreciated. I have already spent ?200 getting it past through its MOT. Now I just want to drive it and see if it gets through the winter.
Thx

yup the wax stat unit could is a common fault when cold. GSF have then listed but at a stupid price. The 2e2 was never a great carb. The pull down unit can be a bit prone too. But try the wax stat first. Also have a look around the Pipe work for air leaks. The little air pipes the plug into the carb, Dizzy, Air intake and the Green Round thingy.
Just to make sure its all workin fine.
I know how ya feel like many of us here, my handbrake cable snapped last week, which i have done now, and last night the seat broke and headlights decided to go faulty. This what god made sundays for..lol
Hope it helps
