just curious as to why you want to do this?

couldn't you just disconnect it?

Because i was told by a weber seller tha a weber needs water in the inlet, if i can get info that this is not the case i am happy, but at moment it really is bothering me.
I have a 1.6 from a 78 mk1 golf which does not have an water channel on teh block, nor does it on the original manifold.
This is where it will confuse you a little
Now the 1.6 carb on the 78 block was/is a pireburg 2B2 not the later 1.6 carb which was fitted after 81 which is the 2E2 carb which uses a water channel.
The 1.5 does not use a water channel on the block nor manifold, great i thought i will ge the excisting weber carb i currently have on the 1.5 rejett'd, no too much bother, redrilling, jets etc as i could have simply used the manifold off my 1.5 along with carb.
Anyway since the car is from SA and is a BIG block 1.3 originally running on a manual choke keihin carb, the wiring loom is only designed for such, a manual choke carb, i can not use an autochoke carb :banghead: this i found out when i fitted the 1.5 which was from an 82 x reg.
So now bought this 1.6 from 78 as stated, now the later 1.6's have the channel, series one models did not, but the manifold for the 78 1.6 is excactly the same as the 1.5 and the carb flange is also the same, a circular flange.
But weber only did the weber replacement i'e. 1B3 urs and mine round carb flange aka the 36 tlp.
The weber replacement for 1.6 & 1.8 models are the retangle flange, so this is where i am stuck.
I can not find a manifold from round the year of the 1.6 block i have, i need a manifold with the later mk1/2 golf 1.6/1.8 flange design to it with only 4 inlet holes, no water channel holes.
I can't, so reason i ask for blocking is i still want to allow water in via the 2 side pipes on the manifold which would go to the autochoke on original carb, i f i can find someone who as a good friend suggested said i need to find an alloy welder and block up the water channel, i can use a later mk2 manifold if i wish, which i do have.
Didn't lose you did i?
Pete

P.s. if i dont know my carbs by now i need help
