Vw golf mk1 1400cc rev limiter

Hi guys

I have a 2003 vw golf mk1 1400cc carb.(South African vw)  My Question is how do i disable the rev limiter. I find it revs to 5500rpm where it reaches its limit.  Iv read on net somewhere that you can change a fuse in the fuse box that disables the rev limit however i checked and their is no fuse in the fuse box where its supposed to be.
