urgent problem. lack of power. not starting

basicly today on my journey into town i stopped off at the petrol station.. filling up £10 (due to finances) straight away the engine felt weak and underpowered. after a few miles a pulled over and the engine cut out. after a we while of trying to get it going it stopped starting all together.

has anyone else experienced anything similar, or has any idea what it could be?

is it just coincidence it happened at the petrol station?

could be rust in the fuel tank blocking the lines etc, common problem.
If It's a carb model, mucky carb.
The list will grow fella.
