URGENT! Carb query =D

Hey ,

Hope someone can help me. I have a 1.8 cabby with a pierberg 2e2 carb , with an idle problem. The problem been it doesnt idle. Its been to a few mechanics , even those at VW who worked on them when they were new but they failed to fix it and advised me it needs a new carb.

Ive come to fit a new carb from an identical vechicle and on removing my current carb and comparing the 2 ive noticed theres a difference in how 2 of the vacum hoses are connected. I know for  a fact the new carb ive come to fit came off a working car. So can anyone tell me if the hoses in my current carb are connected wrongly please.

Here are the 2 carbs the one on the right is the one out of my car and the one on the left is the new one.

This is the new one which i assume has the correct hose connections.

are you 100% sure ? i think the the last picture has the correct vac pipe fitting which you say is the old carb, check the link to the pictures and you can see the correct fitting on the pictures there.  i could be wrong but ive just done all my vac pipes on the 2e2 carb and they are the same as on the last picture you have posted and my runs like new now one pipe was rotten.

yeah well spotted Snizle i got the pics the wrong way round lmao

read the guide on setting it up, as going by the amount of new parts on the old one it probably needs setting up properly.

Well we put it on with the vac hoses how you originally said was correct and it started which is more than it did with the previous carb and set up x
