When you say 'repair' is it the same motor that keeps going then? If you can afford it, a new one is well worth while because it's a noticeable upgrade at the same time. When my old one died I upgraded to a new Bosch one which was more powerful for easier/quicker starting and it was self contained so didn't have the rod that fits into the bush that is quite often knackered and a pain to get out to replace. There are cheaper self contained ones to choose from aswell, but not as good in quality as the Bosch. I searched suppliers online like Euro Car Parts, pretending I had a 1.6d Mk1 caddy a few years younger than my 1982 Golf as it made replacements easier to find (they have the exact same engine anyway).
