I would have thought any will do.

Check the part number here then enter the part number in the search box and you'll find all the models it applies to ;)

If you don't want new, Mark funk-star may be able to help you with a used one?

Personally I'd remove the existing one and get it reconditioned yourself, the auto starter motor is different to manual and likely to be quite rare now. And with it being an auto, the starter motor is much more important than a manual car (can't bump start an auto).

What's up with the starter motor ???? Why are you changing it ??? Have you a starting issue or is it just worn out ???

I saw Mark last night. If it turns out you do need a new starter, then he priced one recently and it was about £130 for a new one.

Have you tried a extention on it or one of those ajust able ends you can use on a rachet, I'm not familiar with the auto so don't know where abouts it is on the engine or is it the same as the gti at the front ?

Reason I ask is its a common problem on the golf cab that the car intermittently doesn't start when warm or hot and lots of experts say to replace the starter motor, I did some research on here and found several threads and also had a lot of help from  rubjonny thereis a wiring modification needed to sort the issue out. I have done mine after been told I need a starter motor and mine has started every time !!

It hasn't started since I have had it the guy I bought it off said it was running when it wads first garaged there is a wire that looks in a bad state . The spade connection is fine but the other wire looks rough
